Champagne Cocktail
Based on a drink I enjoyed at Boodles in London. This recipe makes one drink.
Ingredients
1 fresh orange
1 sugar cube
Angostura bitters
good brandy
Instructions
Take a vegetable peeler and shave a generous tongue of peel (about 2 inches long) from a very fresh orange while holding it above the champagne glass. (The oils from the peel will settle on the glass.)
Drop the orange peel in the glass along with a sugar cube.
Carefully drip the Angostura bitters onto the sugar cube until it is colored throughout. Do not allow the bitters to get on the glass. The bitters should slowly release from the sugar cube.
Add about a ½ inch of good brandy to the bottom of the glass.
Fill with champagne and serve.
