Pink Gin Business
A specialty of New York's Cafe Cluny
This is a refreshing and unusual beverage for a summer party. I discovered it at a small restaurant called Cafe Cluny in the West Village in New York City years ago with Laurel, my daughter. You can make it for a fraction of what they charge for it there, thankfully. Makes 2 drinks.
Ingredients
Hendrick’s gin
1/2 cup pink grapefruit juice
fresh basil
1/2 inch fresh ginger
ice
Instructions
Put a handful of ice into a cocktail shaker.
Place a chunk of ginger (thumb-joint sized) into a clean garlic press.
Squeeze to juice the ginger directly into the shaker.
Roughly chop three basil leaves and place in the shaker.
Add 1/4 cup Hendrick’s gin and 1/2 cup grapefruit juice.
Shake vigorously and strain into chilled martini glasses.
Garnish each drink with an attractive whole basil sprig.
