Prosciutto-Wrapped Figs
Beautiful and unusual appetizer for summer dinner
These make beautiful, unusual appetizers for a summer dinner. They are tidy bundles that are a perfect single bite. You can experiment with the cheese and use softer cheeses that are well suited for pairing with fruit.
Ingredients
fresh soft ripe figs cut into halves
strips of prosciutto about 1 inch by 3 inches long
small bits of parmesan cheese, one per fig half
honey for drizzling
truffle oil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Put a small piece of cheese (the equivalent of 1/2 teaspoon chunk) against the cut part of each fig half. Wrap each fig half and cheese chunk with a strip of the prosciutto.
Place these on a baking sheet and drizzle lightly with a little honey. Bake at 450 degrees until the cheese starts to melt and the ham is starting to look cooked.
Remove and place on a serving plate. Drizzle with truffle oil and serve.
